DJs worldwide are invited to flip, remix, scratch, and reimagine the iconic “Space Jam” theme song.
The grand prize includes an unreleased, one-of-one Space Jam-themed Hercules T10 DJ controller and an opportunity to perform live at the Space Jam TwitchCon event in San Diego.
(WORLDWIDE, SEPTEMBER 2026) – Beatport Open Format and DJcity, in partnership with Warner Records and Looney Tunes, have officially launched the Space Jam DJ Challenge in celebration of the beloved film's 30th anniversary. From September 22 to October 12, 2026, DJs and creators around the globe are challenged to put their own unique spin on the iconic "Space Jam" –originally performed by Quad City DJ’s–and share their creations on Instagram and TikTok.
Originally released as part of the multi-platinum Space Jam soundtrack, the high-energy hip-hop and quad-tempo anthem helped bridge pop culture, sports, and hip-hop in the 1990s. Three decades later, the film–famous for bringing together the basketball legend Michael Jordan alongside Looney Tunes icons like Bugs Bunny and Lola Bunny–and its soundtrack remain a massive cultural touchstone, continually resurfacing across global dance floors, viral social media trends, and modern youth culture.
The challenge arrives as Warner Music Group and Beatport celebrate three decades of Space Jam by highlighting the evolution of modern open-format DJ culture. Unlike traditional remix contests, the Space Jam DJ Challenge prioritizes performance creativity, style, and audience engagement over technical engineering. Entrants have 60 seconds to transform the recognizable hip-hop anthem into a completely new genre or high-energy club edit. The top four finalists selected by Beatport Open Format and DJcity will go to a public vote on Instagram to determine the grand prize winner.
The winner will receive an exclusive, one-of-one Space Jam-themed Hercules T10 DJ controller, a rare, unreleased piece of hardware custom-crafted for this competition–alongside the opportunity to perform live at the official Space Jam TwitchCon event in San Diego, California this November.
